The first edition of Mount Ayr Landmark ornaments, the Ringgold County Courthouse, is in production and due to arrive Dec. 1, 2009. You can reserve your ornaments by visiting Aunt Jennie’s Attic at 114 West Madison in Mount Ayr, Iowa, or by calling 641-464-2149 and leaving your name, number of ornaments to be reserved and your contact phone number so that we can let you know when they can be picked up. You can also email auntjennies@iowatelecom.net with the same information. Posters showing what the ornament looks like are on display at Aunt Jennie’s Attic, Mount Ayr Record News, and the Iowa Roadhouse. These are great ornaments that I should think our alumni and visitors would love to purchase as gifts or as a momento! Thanks for heading up this great idea for a fund raiser!

The second ornament in the Mount Ayr Landmarks series is now available at Aunt Jennie’s Attic. The 2010 ornament pictures the Mount Ayr Public Library. Many have commented that they are even better than the first. I only ordered 150, so don’t wait around to get yours. I also have courthouse ornaments left from last year if you missed out. The price is still $8.00 with part of the profit going to the fund to buy speakers for the square to enhance the Christmas season with music, and to make parades and other events more enjoyable.

Just 5 more shopping days until Christmas! The Mount Ayr merchants appreciate your business both during the holiday season and throughout the year. Everyone needs to help spread the word that Mount Ayr has interesting places to shop and good restaurants for a variety of dining experiences, as well as bowling and the Princess Theater.
